aodbt assisted École canadienne-française with the conversion of the lower floor of the Pavillon élémentaire to increase capacity for daycare spaces within their early childhood centre. Renovation throughout the facility required relocation of the student washroom to offer room for the daycare space, which solved supervision concern by school. Part of the new facility is an expanded entry sequence to make the lower floor wheelchair accessible and also to add space to the existing exterior play area. The new space accommodates up to 71 children ages 0 to 5 years in six separate rooms of various age grouping, each with its own dedicated washroom space. This project was a unique renovation experience as the building has heritage value, and it was the design team’s intent to restore as many of those elements as possible.
