Great Saskatoon Catholic Schools/Horizon School Division
Humboldt, Saskatchewan
Humboldt Collegiate Institute was designed and built as a partnership through the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division and the Horizon School Division. The school is linked to the Uniplex/Elgar Petterson Arena, being a part of the joint use facility that houses a hockey arena, curling rink, swimming pool, fitness centre, a full service high school, and post-secondary education facilities. The institute features a flexible student commons area that forms the heart of the school, a theatre, a gymnasium, and purpose-built classrooms for science, industrial arts, textiles, and food preparation. The facility also includes special needs classrooms and support space. Communication with stakeholders early and frequently in the design process was a critical factor in the successful design and implementation of the project with minimal disruption to the City’s existing services at the Uniplex. This project has achieved LEED Silver Certification.
