Saskatchewan Health Authority / Cypress Health Region
Aging infrastructure and the need to consolidate existing health facilities to better provide care for the local catchment area resulted in the advent of the new Leader Integrated Health Facility. The new facility unifies the community’s health services in one location. The design for the new facility occurred hand in hand with the Cypress Health Region and healthcare staff. Through a collaborative Lean process early on, key personnel were engaged to help define programming. As the design progressed, staff involvement remained eminent and played a significant role in establishing work zones. On stage (care spaces) and off stage (administrative areas) were clearly defined to address visibility and flow in ways that enabled staff and users to efficiently and effectively provide care. Built as an addition and a renovation to the Western Senior Citizen Home, the facility houses a new community clinic, acute care, and after hours emergency.
