Northern Spruce Housing Corporation
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan
The Northern Spruce Housing project is a ten-unit affordable rental project located in the West Hill neighbourhood of Prince Albert in Saskatchewan. All of the buildings contain two-bedroom units, one of which is barrier-free for people with limited mobility. The houses form an urban infill project and are located on a former school yard in one of the most historic and architecturally interesting areas of the city. The buildings were designed to reference the surrounding heritage homes with steeply pitched roofs, large front porches, wood-look siding, and traditional architectural detailing. The project employed on-site bioswale water retention and preserved the existing elm trees.
