The Saskatchewan Provincial Courthouse is designed to create a modern interpretation of a traditional courthouse that is aesthetically and functionally representative of the region. The functional resolution of the many complex interactions between general public, victims, court staff, judiciary, police, and prisoners was of prime importance in the design element of the courthouse. The courthouse comprises of three trail courts, two docket courts, meeting rooms for lawyers and clients, holding cells, sally ports for prisoner transportation, office space, file storage, and underground parking stalls for judges. The facility is the first courthouse in Saskatchewan to incorporate a circular mediation room to more adequately meeting the needs of aboriginal clients.
