The Irene and Leslie Dubé Centre for Mental Health is a 64 bed mental health facility located at the Royal University Hospital Campus in Saskatoon. The facility consolidates the existing Mental Health Units within the Saskatoon Health Region located at Royal University Hospital and Saskatoon City Hospital. The facility also features a new 10 bed Child and Adolescent Unit. The design philosophy of the facility is based on utilizing the beautiful views of the South Saskatchewan River to benefit the patients and play a role in the healing process. aodbt, in association with Cannon Design, worked in collaboration with the Saskatoon Health Region from an early stage to ensure each room was placed in the proper location in relation to river so that patients could be drawn towards the environment that best suited them. The facility is designed with ample natural light and access to views, providing a gentle and calming environment for the patients and staff.
