aodbt and BR2 Architecture partnered as the architectural team, collaborating with Concert-Bird Partners and a group of consultants and builders on the design and delivery of five new high schools for Alberta Infrastructure’s P3 Schools Bundle #2 (P3SB2) Project. The project was delivered through a public-private partnership (P3) with the Government of Alberta.
The five high schools include:
Iron Ridge Secondary Campus, Blackfalds (Wolf Creek Public Schools)

Father Michael McCaffery Catholic High School, Edmonton (Edmonton Catholic Schools)
Grades 10–12 | 1,330 Students | 11,381 m²
Horseshoe Crossing High School, Langdon (Rocky View Schools)
Grades 7–12 | 1,004 Students | 8,465 m²
Ohpaho Secondary School, Leduc (Black Gold School Division)
Grades 10–12 | 1,121 Students | 9,881 m²
Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School, Edmonton (Edmonton Public Schools)
Grades 10–12 | 2,513 Students | 21,818 m²
Together, the five schools add more than 60,000 square metres of permanent space for over 6,900 students across Alberta.
Each high school was developed to meet the specific needs of its school division and community, with a shared focus on safety, functionality, energy efficiency, and flexible learning environments. Safety, security, and supervision were prioritized throughout the design process to create a secure and welcoming environment for students and staff. Collaborative spaces were incorporated to support a range of learning styles, accommodate different group sizes, and encourage interaction across all grade levels. The design also supports long-term adaptability, with spaces that can shift to meet evolving program needs within each school.
All schools are designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
