Humboldt Collegiate Institute is a comprehensive high school serving students in Grades 9 to 12. It is connected to Carlton Trail Regional College and the Humboldt Uniplex. The school was completed through a partnership between Horizon School Division and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. This integrated facility provides an enhanced learning environment for students and increased access to the linked amenities for the community.

At the heart of the facility is a flexible student commons, a central hub connecting the main entry, classrooms, gymnasium, theatre, and links to the Uniplex and Carlton Trail Regional College. This space is designed to foster interaction, collaboration, and a sense of community among students and staff. The theatre opens directly onto the student commons, supporting large gatherings, assemblies, performances, and adaptable programming beyond the school day.

The school’s gymnasium is a full tournament-sized facility with supporting spaces, designed for both athletic programs and community use. Purpose-built classrooms, including science labs, Industrial Arts, Textiles, and Food Preparation, support hands-on, curriculum-driven learning, while dedicated classrooms and support areas for students with special needs create an inclusive environment. General instruction classrooms are strategically arranged to allow for future expansion using portable units.

Sustainability and community integration were central to the project’s vision. Early and ongoing engagement with stakeholders, including students, staff, the City of Humboldt, both school divisions, and community partners, helped the project address educational and community needs while minimizing disruption to the Uniplex’s ongoing services.

The facility is LEED Silver certified.
