Nestled within Saskatoon’s historic City Park neighborhood, this expansive single-family infill bungalow is located just one block away from the river weir. The property offers a captivating westward view of Wilson Park, while its lush landscape is adorned with mature and irreplaceable trees that played a significant role in the planning process.

The inspiration behind the design of King Crescent Residence is rooted in a set of fundamental values: generosity, quality, perspective, light, privacy, patience, warmth, originality, compassion, modesty, and playfulness.

The main floor of this residence is dedicated to public and entertainment spaces. An open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area form the heart of the home, complemented by a convenient powder room and closet near the main entrance. The owner’s ensuite and laundry room are discreetly positioned adjacent to the rear mudroom, ensuring convenience for aging in place. Downstairs, the basement provides three additional bedrooms, a spacious recreation area, ample storage space, and a mechanical room.

The design meticulously balances the need for natural light with the desire for privacy. Referred to as ‘the Turtle’ by its owner, the metal-finished ‘shell’ offers both interior and exterior shade from the sun’s path, strategically placing windows to align with picturesque views while preserving privacy. Noteworthy are the north-facing clerestory windows, which invite generous, diffused northern light, and perpendicular windows in the living room and kitchen that brighten even the darkest corners. Efforts to preserve a line of Swiss Stone Pine trees along the north property line further enhance the living spaces with lush green vistas.

Both inside and out, the choice of materials revolves around wood and glass as foundational elements. A prominent feature is the Tyndall stone, complemented by a combination of metal, Venetian plaster, textiles, porcelain tile, and quartzite, creating a harmonious blend of textures and surfaces that contribute to the residence’s distinctive character.
