Langenburg Central School serves as a gathering place for the entire community. The two-story, 4,685 m² school features a double-height central atrium and open-concept learning spaces that allow for abundant natural light.
The school includes 17 classrooms, a flex classroom/art space, an Industrial Arts/Practical and Applied Arts (IA/PAA) shop, a Home Economics/Practical and Applied Arts classroom, a large gymnasium, a small gym/theatre space with a stage, and a fitness classroom/community fitness centre. It also features an open-concept library and multiple common areas. A key design element is the accessible ramp, promoting inclusivity for all students. The large gymnasium and performing arts/music rooms are designed with separate access points to support after-hours use by various community groups.
The bright exterior colours and “building block” façade reflect the students’ playfulness. Inside, ample natural light and thoughtfully chosen materials create a fun and relaxed environment.
The school is designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification and features interactive signage that helps students explore ways to make the school more environmentally friendly.
