This comprehensive project involved a multi-phased renovation, rejuvenation, and expansion of the Thorvaldson Building to create a cutting-edge facility serving the Departments of Chemistry, College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, and Department of Computer Science.

The Spinks Addition, spanning five stories, encompasses office spaces, communal student areas, and state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories catering to various chemistry disciplines, including general, organic, inorganic, physical, environmental, and analytical chemistry for both undergraduate and graduate students. The design prioritizes an abundance of usable program space, featuring ample daylighting and convenient access to service areas for simplified maintenance. Notably, the Spinks Building was thoughtfully designed to seamlessly bridge the differing floor levels between the 1966 Wing, effectively connecting the two facilities into a cohesive whole.
